Princess Serenity
Sailor Moon

I made this costume on a complete whim- I'd had some fun ideas for photos but didn't have any costumes that I could fit into them. This costume came to mind, and I set to work on it. This is probably the easiest costume I've made in a long time... there wasn't any part of it that I didn't like making, and it went by really quickly. It seems lately I've been working on three or four costumes at a time, so it was nice to take a break from the others and work on this one. I was kind of reluctant about the whole empire waist aspect of Serenity's dress - put simply, I kind of hate them. It turned out better than I'd expected, and was a lot more work than I'd anticipated, but I had a good time and I'm actually pretty happy with how it turned out.
I would have liked the top of this dress to be a little bigger so my chest wasn't completely smooshed, but hey, it fits so I'm content. As a side note I'd like to add that I always thought Serenity's dress was supposed to be all sweet and innocent but it's really a bit risque considering it's transparent and she's got some clevage going on- more so than in other outfits anyway.
Originally I was going to use big pearls on the top, but they stood out way too much and didn't look right- so I went with imitation moonstone, which worked out well and seemed oddly appropriate. You know, what with her being a moon princess and all. Ha ha, moon princess.
