Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, Draco Malfoy, Lucius Malfoy, Narcissa Malfoy, Pansy Parkinson
I kind of love the HP. So, as simple as the costumes are, I've had a great time wearing them to movie and book releases.
1st set of Gryffindor robes: I thought it would be super cool to dress up as Hermione for the first movie release, so I threw together a robe and lined it with a sort of warm fleece, which, next to the deep black of the robe turned out looking dark maroon-ish. Oooh, accidental foresight as to what future robes would look like? MAYBE. I got a totally ratty looking sweater vest and glued some red and yellow ribbon onto it, and sewed a bunch of red and yellow ribbons together to make my tie. I embroidered my little Gryffindor patch by hand and it looked like some kind of bird's nest. The whole thing was pretty ghetto but I basically felt like the coolest person in the world at the time. Ohh, me.
2nd set of Gryffindor robes: Not lined, I think I wore these to the third movie release? I bought a Gryffindor sweater and patch that didn't look quite so scary as my hand-made one. Made myself some SPEW pins and a wand out of a dowel. Also attempted to knit some knobbly elf-hats which was about as successful as my attempt at embroidery.
3rd set of Gryffindor and Slytherin robes: I found some lovely wool which conveniently came in black, dark green, and deep maroon, and considered it to be fate. So I made a new Gryffindor robe (lined in maroon) and Slytherin robe (lined in green). Kelly and I bought new patches, new ties, new sweaters, and new scarves - also made new skirts, and got some gray winter gloves. I somehow managed to run out of maroon fabric for the lining of the Gryffindor robe, so inside one of the sleeves there's a big stripe of green where I MacGuyvered it together. MacGuyvered is a very technical term, btw.
Malfoys: Ha ha ha, my dress was such a hot mess. I also managed to break my original corset for it, so I'm wearing another corset in pretty much all of the photos.
2nd Narcissa Dress: I don't have any pictures of this. Kelly and I went to the 6th movie release as Bellatrix and Narcissa, and I made a new dress.
